Instructies

1
  • Melt a knob of butter in a frying pan over high heat and fry the meatballs for 2 minutes, until evenly browned.
  • Meanwhile, chop the onion into half rings.
  • Add the onion and bell pepper strips to the frying pan, then lower the heat to medium and fry for 3 - 4 minutes.
2
  • Cut the potatoes into wedges.
  • Place the potatoes in a large microwave-safe bowl and top with 1 tbsp of water per person. Cover the bowl with microwave-safe plastic wrap and poke a few holes in the wrap.
  • Microwave on high for 5 - 6 minutes or until soft when pricked with a fork.
  • When done, sprinkle over the za'atar and season to taste with salt and pepper.
3
  • Add the passata, Middle Eastern spices, balsamic vinegar and sugar to the frying pan.
  • Bring to a quick boil, then simmer until serving. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Crumble the Greek-style cheese
  • Roughly chop the parsley.

Did you know... parsley is very high in iron; per gram it contains three times as much as steak, which means even the relatively small amount of parsley in this recipe contributes to a healthy iron intake.

4
  • Slice open the hotdog bun and top with the meatballs and the sauce.
  • Serve alongside the potatoes and mayo to taste.
  • Scatter the Greek-style cheese over the sandwiches and garnish everything with the parsley.
