Cooking Steps

Snijden
1

Verwarm de oven voor op 210 graden. Schil de aardappelen of was ze grondig en snijd er frieten van maximum 1 cm breed van (zie Tip). Meng ze op een bakplaat met bakpapier met 1 el olijfolie per persoon, peper en zout. Bak 30 – 35 minuten in het midden van de oven. Schep halverwege om. Bak de pistolet de laatste 4 - 5 minuten mee in de oven.

Tip: Deze maaltijd is calorierijk. Let jij op je calorie-inname? Serveer dan de burger zonder de aardappelen. Deze kun je op een andere dag deze week verwerken in bijvoorbeeld een soep of salade.

Ui karamelliseren

Snijd de ui in halve ringen. Verhit een koekenpan zonder bakvet op middelhoog vuur. Bak de uienringen met een snuf zout in de koekenpan 6 - 8 minuten, of tot ze donker kleuren (zie Tip). Voeg 1/4 el olijfolie per persoon toe, verlaag het vuur en bak de uienringen in 3 - 4 minuten zacht. Roer regelmatig door. Blus vlak voor serveren af met 1 el water per persoon.

Tip: Gaat het bakken van de uienringen te hard? Dek de pan dan na het toevoegen van de olijfolie af met een deksel. Houd je van zoet? Voeg dan een klein beetje suiker toe aan de uien.

Salade voorbereiden

Rasp de wortel met een grove rasp. Snijd de tomaat in partjes. Voeg de wortel, tomaat en gemengde sla toe aan een saladekom. Houd een beetje sla apart voor op de burger.

Vegan burger bakken

Verhit ondertussen 1/2 el olijfolie per persoon in een andere koekenpan op middelhoog vuur. Bak de burger 3 - 4 minuten per kant, of tot hij goudbruin kleurt. 

Salade afmaken

Meng vlak voor serveren per persoon: 1/2 el extra vierge olijfolie, 1 tl zwarte balsamicoazijn door de salade in de saladekom en breng op smaak met peper en zout.

Snijd de pistolet open, smeer er wat Amerikaanse fritessaus op en beleg met de apart gehouden sla en de burger. Leg de gekaramelliseerde ui op de burger. Leg de burgers op de borden en verdeel de ovenfrieten en salade naast de burger. Serveer met de overige Amerikaanse fritessaus.

Weetje: De ui is een onderschatte supergroente! Hij is niet alleen rijk aan vezels en B-vitaminen, maar zit ook bomvol antioxidanten en vitamine C.
