Cooking Steps

Prepare the toppings

  • Finely slice the onion. Roughly shred the lettuce.
  • Slice the tomatoes. Transfer the pickles to a small bowl.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C. Bake the buns for 4 - 6 minutes in the oven.
  • Melt a knob of butter in a frying pan and fry the onion for 10 - 12 minutes over medium heat. Add the onion to a small bowl. 
Fry the burgers

  • In the same pan, heat a knob of butter over medium-high heat and fry the burgers for 3 - 5 minutes (see Tip).
  • Flip the burgers and add the cheddar. Fry for another 3 - 5 minutes, or until done.

Tip: you can also grill the burgers on a preheated barbecue. The preparation method will remain the same.

  • Serve the sriracha mayo and smoky tomato ketchup in small bowls. 
  • Transfer the burgers and buns to serving platters. 
  • Lay out the burgers, buns and toppings on the table and begin building your own burger!
