Cooking Steps

Prepare

  • Chop the onion into half rings.
  • Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over low-medium heat and cook the onions for 10 - 12 minutes. 
  • Meanwhile, wrap the sausages in bacon. 
Grill

  • Preheat the barbecue (see Tip). 
  • Cut the hotdog buns open, but not completely in half, then put them face-down on the barbecue and toast for 3 - 5 minutes, or until they are lightly browned. 
  • Grill the hotdogs on the barbecue for 4 - 6 minutes until done. 

Tip: you can also toast the buns and grill the sausages in a pan. The preparation method will remain the same.

  • Spread the mustard on the buns.
  • Place the hotdogs in the buns. 
  • Divide the caramelised onion over the hotdogs. 
  • Drizzle the tomato ketchup over the hotdogs. Garnish with the pickles and fried onions.
