- Boil plenty of water in a pot or saucepan and crumble in the stock cube (see pantry for amount).
- Cook the pasta for 9 - 11 minutes.
- Reserve 40ml pasta water per person, then drain and set aside.
- Meanwhile, cut all of the peppers into strips.
- Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat and fry the peppers for 4 minutes.
- Slice the onion into half-rings.
- Add the onion to the peppers and fry for 3 minutes.
- Add half of the BBQ rub* and fry for 1 more minute. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
*Take care, this ingredient is spicy! Use as preferred.
- Add the cream, the pasta water and the mustard, then mix well and bring to a gentle boil.
- Stir in the cheese and allow to melt.
- Turn off the heat and add the pasta, then mix well to combine.
- Taste and then season with salt and pepper as needed.
- Melt a knob of butter in a small frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the steak strips with the rest of the BBQ rub for 1 - 2 minutes.
- Serve the pasta in bowls.
- Top with the steak strips.
