Cheddar komt oorspronkelijk uit het dorpje Cheddar in het Engelse Somerset. Ook deze cheddar komt uit Somerset, van een familiebedrijf dat al meer dan 150 jaar kaas maakt. De scherpe smaak van de kaas gaat goed samen met het zoete van de bataat en rode ui. De salade zorgt voor een frisse noot.

Cooking Steps

Bataat bereiden

Verwarm de oven voor op 200 graden. Schil de bataat en snijd in plakken van ½ cm dik. Verdeel de bataat over een bakplaat met bakpapier. Besprenkel met de helft van de olijfolie en bestrooi met peper en zout. Bak de bataat 12 – 15 minuten in de oven. Bak de laatste 4 – 5 minuten de mini- hamburgerbollen mee.

Ui en tomaat bereiden

Snijd ondertussen de rode ui in halve ringen. Verhit de overige olijfolie in een koekenpan en fruit de rode ui 4 – 6 minuten op laag vuur of totdat ze de gewenste garing hebben. Haal uit de pan en bewaar apart in een kom. Snijd ondertussen de helft van de benodigde vleestomaten in plakken en de andere helft klein.

Salade mengen

Scheur de botersla grof en meng met de kleingesneden tomaat in een saladekom. Besprenkel met de extra vierge olijfolie en zwarte balsamicoazijn. Breng op smaak met peper en zout.

Kipburgers bakken

Verhit de zonnebloemolie in dezelfde koekenpan en bak de kipburgers 8 – 10 minuten op middelhoog vuur, of tot ze gaar zijn. Keer regelmatig om.

Hamburgers maken

Haal ondertussen de bataat uit de oven. Verdeel de mini-hamburgerbollen over de borden en snijd ze open. Besmeer de onderkant met een laagje mosterd en beleg met wat botersla, een plakje tomaat, wat rode ui en een kipburger. Bestrooi met de geraspte cheddar en leg de bovenkant erop.

Serveer de burgers met de bataat en de overige salade.
