Cooking Steps

  • Take the steak strips out of the fridge and allow to reach room temperature. Transfer them to a bowl.
  •  Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar and half of the white wine vinegar. Mix well to combine and let marinate until further use.
  • Heat a large pot with boiling water. Add the stock cube and cook the rice for 12 - 15 minutes.
  • Drain and set aside.

  • Finely chop the onion.
  • Crush or mince the garlic.
  • Grate the carrot and courgette.
  • Heat the sunflower oil in a wok or deep frying pan. When the oil is nice and hot. Add the onion and fry for 3 - 4 minutes.
  • Add the courgette, carrot and garlic, and fry for another 3 - 5. minutes. At the last minute add the nasi-bami spice mix.

  • Heat a knob of butter in a frying pan over medium-high heat and fry the steak strips for 4 minutes.
  • Transfer the rice to the vegetables together with the reserved white wine vinegar and half of the ketjap.
  • Fry for one more minute on high heat.

  • Serve the fried rice in bowls or deep plates and top with the steak strips and the remaining sauce.
  • Drizzle the rest of the ketjap over it.
  • Garnish with the fried onions.
