Cooking Steps

Chop the vegetables

  • Boil plenty of water in a pot or saucepan for the pasta.  
  • Chop the onion and crush or mince the garlic.
  • Grate the carrot. 
Boil the pasta

  • Boil the pasta for 11 - 13 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  • In the meantime, halve the tomatoes and prepare the stock.
  • Heat the olive oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the garlic with the carrot and onion for 4 - 5 minutes, covered.
  • Add the beef mince and Italian seasoning and fry for 2 - 3 more minutes.
Finish the sauce

  • Add the stock, tomato paste, milk, Worcestershire sauce and balsamic vinegar, along with the tomatoes.
  • Mix well to combine and allow to simmer for 6 - 7 minutes. 
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Serve

  • Chop the basil into ribbons.
  • Serve the pasta on plates and top with the sauce. 
  • Grate the cheese directly onto the pasta.
  • Garnish with the basil to finish.
