Cooking Steps

Fry the potatoes
1
  • Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  • Fry the potatoes with the smoked paprika for 10 - 12 minutes until done.
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Cut the Romano pepper into strips and slice the onion into thin rings.

Air Fryer Option: drizzle the potatoes with oil and fry for 15 - 25 minutes at 200°C. Shake halfway and avoid overcrowding the basket.

Fry the burger
2
  • Melt a knob of butter in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat (see Tip).
  • Fry the Romano pepper with the onion and the burger for 3 - 4 minutes per side (or use an extra pan if necessary).

Tip: if you have time, cut open the hamburger bun and toast it first for 3 - 5 minutes (face-down) before proceeding with the rest of the step.

Make the salad
3
  • Cut the tomato into wedges.
  • Serve the lettuce on plates and top with the tomato.
  • Drizzle with the white wine vinegar and some extra virgin olive oil as preferred.
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Serve
4
  • Cut open the hamburger bun and spread with the smoky tomato ketchup.
  • Top with the burger, the Romano pepper and the onion, as well as some lettuce if preferred.
  • Serve the potatoes and mayonnaise alongside.
