- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Take the steak out of the fridge and allow it to reach room temperature.
- Slice the onion. Add the oil to a frying pan on medium heat and fry the onion for 10 - 12 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Wrap the garlic cloves in aluminium foil.
- Transfer the bread and garlic to a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 6 - 8 minutes.
- Add the butter to a frying pan on medium-high heat and fry the steak for 2 - 3 minutes on each side.
- Season the steak with salt and pepper and then slice it.
- Carefully scoop out the roasted garlic, transfer to a bowl and mash with a fork. Mix in the mayonnaise.
- Slice the bread lengthways and spread the garlic mayo on the inside.
- Add a layer of arugula, then top with the steak, cheese and caramelised onion.
