Cooking Steps

Prepare

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C. 
  • Take the steak out of the fridge and allow it to reach room temperature. 
  • Slice the onion. Add the oil to a frying pan on medium heat and fry the onion for 10 - 12 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. 
  • Wrap the garlic cloves in aluminium foil.

  • Transfer the bread and garlic to a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 6 - 8 minutes.
  • Add the butter to a frying pan on medium-high heat and fry the steak for 2 - 3 minutes on each side. 
  • Season the steak with salt and pepper and then slice it. 
Assemble

  • Carefully scoop out the roasted garlic, transfer to a bowl and mash with a fork. Mix in the mayonnaise. 
  • Slice the bread lengthways and spread the garlic mayo on the inside. 
  • Add a layer of arugula, then top with the steak, cheese and caramelised onion.
