Cooking Steps

Marinate the steak

  • Mince the garlic.
  • Take the steak strips out of the fridge and transfer them to a bowl. Mix in half of the East Asian-style sauce, half of the soy sauce, the garlic and some black pepper. Allow the steak strips to marinate and reach room temperature. 
Chop the veggies

  • Rinse the noodles with cold water and let them drain well. Gently squeeze the water out.
  • Chop the scallions and separate the white parts from the green. 
  • Quarter the mushrooms.
  • Cut the bell pepper into strips. 
Make the dressing

  • In a large salad bowl, add the rest of the East Asian-style sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil and sesame seeds, then season with black pepper.
  • Grate the carrot and add it to the salad bowl but do not mix yet.
Cook the veggies

  • In a large frying pan, heat a light drizzle of sunflower oil over medium-high heat and fry the steak strips for 4 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same frying pan, heat a generous drizzle of sunflower oil over high heat. Add the white parts of the scallions, the mushrooms and the bell pepper. Fry for 4 - 6 minutes or until the mushrooms turn golden brown. Season with salt and pepper. 
Fry the steak strips

  • Add the noodles to the pan and stir fry for 30 seconds - 1 minute or until the moisture has evaporated. 
  • Tear the Thai basil into smaller pieces directly into the pan. 
  • Transfer the steak strips back to the pan and fry for another minute.
  • Add the contents of the frying pan to the salad bowl and mix well together. 
Serve

  • Serve the Koren-style stir fry on plates and garnish with the rest of the scallions.
