Cooking Steps

Prepare
1
  • Slice the Romano pepper into thin strips and roughly chop the onion.
  • Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the Romano pepper and the onion for 1 minute
  • Deglaze with the balsamic vinegar and fry for 3 - 4 more minutes, covered. Season with salt and pepper
  • Remove from the pan and set aside.
Make the croutons
2
  • Dice the bread roll into 1cm cubes.
  • Roughly chop the bacon into small pieces.
  • Heat a drizzle of olive oil in the same frying pan over medium-high heat and fry the bread for 1 - 2 minutes.
  • Add the bacon and fry for 4 more minutes, or until crispy and golden-brown.
Make the salad
3
  • Dice the tomato and chop the lettuce into thin strips.
  • In a salad bowl, combine the basil crème with the extra virgin olive oil.
  • Shortly before serving, transfer the tomato, the lettuce, the Romano pepper and the onion to the salad bowl.
  • Toss well to combine with the dressing.

Did you know... the tomato in this recipe contains potassium, a mineral that contributes to normal muscle function.

Serve
4
  • Serve the salad on plates, topped with the bacon and the croutons.
  • Place the burrata in the middle of the salad and season with black pepper.
  • Drizzle with the crema di balsamico to finish.
