What's in a HelloFresh meal box?

In your meal box you will find what you need to prepare a fresh meal including:

  • Fresh ingredients in the correct quantities, conveniently packaged per meal so that you can put everything in the refrigerator at once.
  • Recipe cards with 4 to 6 easy-to-follow steps and photos.

We do not supply a number of ingredients as standard. so be sure to have these before you begin:

Until when can I change my HelloFresh Box?

You can adjust, pause or stop the delivery of the HelloFresh Box on a weekly basis. The deadline for this depends on your delivery day:

If you receive your box on Saturday, Sunday or Monday morning, please report your changes before Wednesday 11:59 PM. If you receive your box on Monday afternoon, Tuesday or Wednesday morning, please report your changes before 11:59 PM on Thursday. If you receive your box on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday, please report your changes before 11:59 PM on Sunday.

Unfortunately, you cannot change or cancel your HelloFresh Box after the weekly deadline has passed. We order everything in exactly the right quantities to limit food waste.

We hope you understand, and can donate the box to family, neighbors or friends.

How do I enable push notifications in the HelloFresh app?

The delivery text message has recently been replaced by an app notification. You can also track the delivery in your account or via the app.

Make sure your push notifications are active so that you receive notifications in the app. This is how you do it:

For IOS: Go to 'Settings' on your phone, choose 'Notifications', select the 'HelloFresh App' and then 'allow notifications'.

For Android: Go to 'Settings' on your phone, choose 'Notifications', select the 'HelloFresh App' and slide the button to the right so that it turns blue.

If you don't have a smartphone or if would you rather not receive notifications, we will then send you the delivery time of your box by email. You don't have to do anything to receive these notifications.

Why do I pay a surcharge for some recipes on the menu?
We offer a number of special recipes on the weekly menu for which you will be charged a surcharge fee. This selection includes luxurious Premium recipes, the extensive Burgundian recipe with a main course and three side dishes, adventurous World Cuisine recipes with unique flavors/ingredients. You can also always add extra meat, fish or vegetables to all recipes for an extra charge.
What are Health Conscious Choice recipes?

One of the categories on our menu is Health Conscious Choices. These recipes are based on European guidelines and the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) on healthy eating, so you can enjoy a tasty, mindful meal.

  • Calories: Each Health Conscious Choice recipe contains a maximum of 800 calories. This equals 40% of the daily energy intake based on an average of 2,000 calories.
  • Salt: Following the WHO guideline of a maximum of 6 grams of salt per day, we aim to limit the salt content in our recipes. For example, we consciously choose low-salt broth, which contains less salt but is just as flavourful as regular broth. Each Health conscious choice recipe contains a maximum of 3.5 grams of salt per serving. We also provide cooking tips on our recipe cards for ingredients containing salt, so you can adjust the salt level to your preference.
  • Vegetables: WHO guidelines advise at least 80 grams of vegetables or fruit per meal (400 grams per day divided over 5 portions). At HelloFresh, we use a minimum of 200 grams of raw vegetables per recipe. For our Veggie recipes, this is even 250 grams of raw vegetables.
  • (Saturated) fats: We do not set a maximum for fats when creating recipes, as most recipes with higher fat content are already accounted for by the calorie maximum per recipe. Our culinary team continuously works to improve ingredients and recipes to minimize fat content wherever possible, without compromising on taste.

    What options are available within ‘Health Conscious Choice’?

    Within this category, there are various health-conscious choices you can make. In addition to the above guidelines, we also take specific health preferences into account:

  • Calorie Smart: Maximum 700 kcal per recipe.
  • Extra Veggies: At least 250 grams of raw vegetables per recipe; for Veggie recipes, even 300 grams.
  • High Protein: At least 20% of the recipe’s energy comes from protein.
  • Fibermaxxing: At least 15 grams of fiber per recipe and always includes a whole-grain ingredient, such as potatoes, whole grains, or legumes.
  • -30% Carbs: Recipes with 30% fewer carbohydrates compared to the average amount in a HelloFresh recipe.
What does the 'did you know' fact on the recipe card mean, and how is it determined?

The facts on our recipe cards—such as “high in protein” or “contains vitamin C”—are based on European nutritional guidelines. These claims are only used when a recipe or ingredient genuinely meets specific nutritional criteria. For example, a recipe or ingredient must contain a minimum amount of protein or vitamin C per serving.

We carefully analyse our recipes to ensure that every claim is accurate and complies with applicable legislation. Our health facts refer specifically to a recipe or ingredient and provide additional insight into its health benefits. They fall within the category of a varied and balanced diet, as part of a healthy lifestyle. When and at what time will my HelloFresh Box arrive?

The day before delivery you will receive a push notification or email with a Track and Trace link. We indicate when you can expect the box the next day. This time may change in the meantime - although this will be minimal. Please note that the time is an indication and that the delivery person may have to deal with traffic jams, weather conditions, or other delays.

Track & Trace

The notification contains a link with more information about the expected arrival time of your box. With this link you can track your box to your front door. You can also find the status of the box in your weekly menu:

  • Log in to your account.
  • Go to the correct week.
  • Click above your chosen recipes: 'Planned - 'Track your delivery here'.
    Please note: You need a mobile number to receive your delivery text message. This number must be registered in your account. The text messages are a (free) extra service that we offer. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the text messages will be received correctly for everyone. For example, we due to incorrectly registered numbers or a service provider that do not support this.
What happens if my box will be delivered late?
You will receive a text message as soon as the delivery person is delayed by at least 45 minutes. If the new expected delivery time is no longer convenient, please contact customer service. You can also respond to the text message you received from us. You can indicate whether the box can be delivered to specific neighbors. You can also think of instructions, such as: "Leave the box on the doormat" or "Put the box behind the gate".
How can I change my delivery address?

Changing your delivery address is easy. Click on the button below and log in:

Why was I charged €0.01 / €1?

We charge this small amount to verify your payment information. The amount will be automatically refunded after a few days. Depending on the payment method, this can be between €0.01 and €1.

The verification takes place when:

  1. The first box of your membership is free, and future boxes are charged at the regular rate.
  2. You change your payment details.
  3. You reactivate your membership.
I have received a payment reminder. What now?

You can check your order history here and see which orders have failed payments.

If your box still shows as unpaid even though you have paid, please note that it may take a few days for the payment to be processed.

I have one HelloFresh membership, why do I see multiple charges?
If you order a HelloFresh Box, you may be charged up to three times a week: once for the meal box, once for Premium recipes and once for HelloFresh Market products. So keep in mind that if you choose Premium recipes and extras, you pay more than just the meal box. If you suspect you have been charged more than you should, please contact us here.
What are the quick recipes?

Want to enjoy HelloFresh all day long? From breakfast and lunch to a simple meal - with our quick recipes you can make it in 5 to 15 minutes. Just like in your meal box, you will receive a handy recipe card with 4 steps and all ingredients portioned for 2 people. That means something tasty on the table in no time! Choose from, for example, American pancakes with mascarpone, New York salmon bagel and delicious salads.

What packaging material is used at HelloFresh?

The box in which all ingredients are delivered is recyclable. The cardboard that HelloFresh uses is made to come into contact with food.

Packaging

Most packaging is recyclable. Did you know that plastic around a cucumber extends its shelf life by 10 to 14 days? Without foil around it, the vegetable will lose 10% of its weight within 3 days. And if you throw away the cucumber, you also throw away the natural gas that heats the greenhouse in which the cucumber was grown.

Since the product itself has a much greater CO₂ impact than the packaging, using packaging is more sustainable because food is not wasted.

Plastic

We are always working to minimize plastic use or to keep packaging as small as possible.

For example, we have recently started using smaller and lighter packaging for salmon, cod, minced meat, mushrooms and feta. The plastic packaging of cream and yoghurt has also been replaced by beverage cartons.

For example, in 2021 we achieved a plastic reduction of 18% in the average weight of plastic packaging per recipe, compared to 2020. In addition, we are continuously working on various initiatives to further reduce this.

What is being done about food waste?

Food belongs on your plate, not in the trash. Food waste has an impact on the climate. We therefore purchase the ingredients based on your order and in exactly the right quantities, which is why we also have a weekly deadline. We represent less than 0.2% food waste in our chain.

What is the bookmark icon?

The HelloFresh Cookbook is essentially your own digital kitchen, letting you save your favorite recipes from all over the web—Instagram, TikTok, and more—right here in your app. To learn more, click HERE.

I am not at home during the delivery. What now?

Is the driver already on their way with your box? Then post a comment via the Track and Trace link or send a message to customer service.
You can also easily make adjustments before the deadline for your box via your account.

Not at home?

Since we deliver a box with fresh ingredients, we prefer to hand these over to you personally. So make sure you are at home at the time of delivery. But if you're not at home, then we may ring the doorbell of the neighbors and ask them if they would like to accept the box for you. We will then tell you where you can pick up the box via a note in your mailbox. If your neighbors do not open the door, we will take the box back with us.

What happens if my delivery faces a major delay?
We always do our best to deliver your box as quickly as possible. But due to unforeseen circumstances, this is unfortunately not always possible. We will send you a text message or call you about the new delivery time. If the new expected arrival time is no longer convenient, please contact customer service and we will look for a suitable solution together.
I think I paid too much - what should I do?

How does a subscription work?

A HelloFresh meal box subscription is very flexible. You can pause or adjust your box weekly.

Every week you can choose your own recipes from a varied menu. A box with fresh ingredients and recipe cards will be delivered to your home at a time that suits you. Need to skip a week? Pause your delivery with just one click. Hosting dinner? Double the number of portions of a recipe so everyone can enjoy your cooking!

You can easily adjust your subscription via your account, in the app, or on the website. Please make sure that you notify us of any changes before the deadline for selecting your recipes. Depending on your delivery time, this is no later than 3 to 6 days before delivery. The exact deadline for changing your box can be found in your online weekly menu.

Which HelloFresh Boxes are there?

When ordering a HelloFresh Box, you indicate your menu preference. There is something for everyone and if you can't choose, let us surprise you!

Based on your menu preference, we put together a standard menu. You can then always choose from all other recipes. So even if they fall outside your menu preference.
For example, have you specified Veggie as your menu preference, but would you still like something different? Then you can simply choose that delicious orzo risotto with cod or chicken tikka masala from the weekly menu.

How do I add or view recipes in my cookbook?

Add a recipe

You can keep all your favorite finds in one place. When you spot a recipe you love on social media or a website, just tap the Share icon on your phone and select the HelloFresh app from the list (you might need to tap 'More' or '...' to find us). We’ll whisk that recipe right into your digital cookbook, ingredients and all!

View saved recipes

To find your saved and imported recipes, just tap the Bookmark icon at the top of your HelloFresh app. It’s like having a secret stash of delicious inspiration right in your pocket.

How do I remove one of my saved recipes?
Cleaning out your digital pantry? No problem! Just tap the Bookmark icon to view your recipes, select the one you’d like to remove, and tap the Trash bin icon. Don't worry, if you change your mind later, you can always re-import it!

How do I choose the recipes?

Every week you can choose from 35 different recipes, so there's something for everyone.

Click on the button below, log in, and select your recipes up to 4 weeks in advance. To add or remove recipes, click on the + and - next to the recipe.

How long will my ingredients stay fresh?

Sixth meal

Although we guarantee that all meals are safe to consume within 5 days of receipt, due to popular demand, we now also offer the option to add a seventh meal to your box. This makes your subscription even more flexible and from now on you can enjoy a HelloFresh meal for an extra day, for example during lunch or when friends come over for dinner.

Check shelf life

As always, check the expiration date on the label before consuming your ingredients and ensure that everything is kept refrigerated before use. Use your senses to check whether unlabeled products, such as fruits and vegetables, are still fresh. We will continue to mention the expiry date for consumption on the recipe card.

How is Nutri-Score calculated?
The score is calculated based on nutritional values ​​that are or are not recommended. Our recipes fall into the product group 'meals and recipes' and may therefore only be compared with meals and recipes (see here on page 101 all other product groups). Thus, you cannot compare a recipe with a product from our range, for example a carton of milk, but you can compare it with all other recipes on the menu. The Nutri-Score is calculated on the prepared recipe.* This means: without cutting waste from your vegetables, with moisture loss from grains and reduction of saturated fat in certain types of meat and fish, and including the use of basic ingredients such as low-salt stock and oil. We do not include adding basic ingredients 'to taste'. Read here what Nutri-Score is.
How healthy are our meals compared to the average evening meal consumed by Dutch people?
To answer this, we use official data from the RIVM’s most recent Dutch National Food Consumption Survey (2019–2021). In our own study conducted in late 2025, we compared our recipes to the health guidelines of the Wheel of Five and the average evening meal of Dutch adults. This shows that, based on the median, our recipes in 2025 contain more fiber and vegetables and less salt compared to the average evening meal of Dutch adults. Which guidelines of the Wheel of Five did our recipes meet in 2025?
To answer this, we use official data from the Dutch Nutrition Centre. In our own study conducted in late 2025, we assessed our recipes against the health guidelines of the Wheel of Five and the average evening meal of Dutch adults. This shows that, based on the median, our recipes in 2025 meet the Wheel of Five guidelines for fiber, protein, vegetables, and carbohydrates. How can I manage allergies and dietary restrictions?

To ensure that you don't encounter any unpleasant surprises, you can select which recipes you would like to receive in your box each week. You can choose from a varied weekly menu every week and tailor your box to meet your own dietary needs. For each recipe we indicate which allergens it contains, taking into account 14 different types.

To review your selection, search for the correct week and then the correct recipe. If you click on the recipe, you will see the allergens listed there.

How is the nutritional value of the recipes calculated?

We determine the nutritional value for each recipe based on the data/nutritional values that we receive per product from our suppliers. We then calculate the nutritional value per portion based on the grams of each product used in the recipe. The total consists of all delivered products and the products you add yourself.

The following guidelines are applied to each recipe:

  • All recipes contain at least 200 grams of (uncooked) vegetables per portion.*
  • In addition to the recipes with potatoes, there are also options with whole grains or a healthy carbohydrate component with more fiber.
  • Recipes that are relatively high in calories or contain more salt will receive a tip on the recipe card to reduce the salt content and/or calories.

    The new menu preference Caloriesmart has recipes with always 200 grams of (uncooked) vegetables or more and a maximum of 700 kcal. Where possible they contain brown or whole grains and less salt.

    *A number of our recipes do not meet our standard of at least 200 grams of (uncooked) vegetables per portion. These can be recognized by the Comfortfood label and we strive to always offer a salad as the 'Tastes even better' with' option.

HelloFresh does everything it can to provide you with the best fresh ingredients and the best service. That is why we are very sorry to hear that something was wrong with the contents of your box.

Contact customer service for a refund or get an immediate credit on your online account if you solve your problem here reports.

Where and when does HelloFresh deliver?

We deliver in the Netherlands on all days except Friday. The following applies to the Wadden Islands:

  • Terschelling and Vlieland on Tuesday
  • Texel, Ameland and Schiermonnikoog on Sunday


Where and when we deliver depends on your postal code area, the delivery day and the crowds at that time. In your online account you can easily adjust delivery times to suit your area of ​​residence.

How can I add a delivery note?

By clicking on the button below, indicate which delivery note you want for your box - for example, that the box should be left behind the gate if you are not at home.

  • Your box has been delivered to the neighbors (along with their address).
  • Your box has been delivered according to the delivery note from your account.

Do I pay delivery costs for my HelloFresh Box?

Our delivery team is happy to bring your HelloFresh Box to your doorstep at the scheduled time. A delivery fee of €5.99 per box ensures your order arrives accurately and hassle-free.

Surcharge at delivery times

You can select your preferred delivery times. During busier periods, a small additional fee may apply to cover the extra effort required for delivery.
The available delivery times depend on the crowds in the area where you live.

How do I pay for my boxes?

First box

When placing your order, we only verify your payment method. This payment method is then saved as the default payment method. Payment for your first box will be charged the morning after your box deadline. Please note that Premium recipes and extras are charged separately.

Next boxes

After the first payment, all subsequent boxes will be automatically debited. This happens on the morning after the order deadline of your box. The exact moment at which the amount is debited varies per payment method and bank.

Please note: if you have paid for your first box with iDeal, the direct debit will continue via your bank account from the second box onwards. Of course, we only charge costs if you have ordered a box that week.

Good to know: Premium recipes and extras are charged separately. It is therefore possible that three separate debits are made for one delivery week.

My automatic payment failed

Don't worry, we will contact you within a week if this happens. We will let you know which payment has failed, what the outstanding balance is, and how you can still make the payment.

There are several possible reasons why your payment failed. For example, you may have insufficient funds in your account, your payment details have expired, or your chosen payment method is not available for online purchases.

If your payment has been declined, please check that your payment details (such as your account number and due date) are correct. If not, change the details or add another payment method here.

If the payment problems persist, please contact your bank and check whether your chosen payment method supports online purchases and recurring transactions.

Where can I pay in my online account?
If the payment failed, click here to make the payment via your online account. Please note that the payment method you use to make the payment will automatically become your default payment method for future transactions.
How can I update/delete my payment details?
You can easily update or delete your payment information here. Depending on the payment method, we charge between €0 and €1 to verify the new payment details, after which we will refund the amount.
How can I check my payment history and manage invoices?

Click here to check the boxes you have received in the past or to download an invoice. Please note: invoices are only available for paid boxes and only from the delivery date.

If you need to update your billing information or need older invoices that are not available online, please contact us here.

If you represent a company, it is possible to enter a different billing address than the delivery address when ordering.

I am not a customer, why do I see costs at HelloFresh?
HelloFresh is committed to combating unauthorized access, fraud and identity theft. Please contact us here immediately if you suspect that someone is paying for a HelloFresh membership with your payment details without your permission.
Where can I redeem my discount code?

When ordering your first box it is possible to use a discount code. You can redeem your discount code during the last part of the ordering process.

Check the terms of the discount code if it is declined. The code may have expired or the code may only be valid for new customers.

Are you already a customer? Then you can redeem your discount code via this link. If the discount code is declined, please note that our codes are usually only valid for new customers.

Which additional products can you order?

In addition to our meal boxes, we also have a lot of tasty products that you can add to your box.

On the menu you will find more many products from our trusted suppliers and small-scale makers and growers. Choose from quick meals, varied breakfast and lunch options, nutritious snacks, treats for drinks and much more. Always of the best quality - just like the ingredients in your meals - and delivered at the same time with the meal box. Enjoy more convenience and save time!

In addition to individual products, we also have boxes that contain more than one product and the contents of which are different every week, such as the Fruit Box (14/25 pieces of fruit) and the Baking Box twice a week.

How can I order additional products?

Choose your recipes and then automatically go to the extras. Browse the different categories and add your favorites to your box.

Please note: You can only order these extra products together with a meal box.

Can I also order additional products at a discount?
Yes, in the 'Promotions' category you will find a selection of products every week that you can order at a discount. You will also find discounted items in other categories. So feel free to check what's on offer each week.
How are the extra products delivered?
You will receive the products together with your meal box, so that the driver only has to drive once - very sustainable!
How are the additional products invoiced?

These products are automatically added to your meal box invoice and debited at the same time. We make a clear distinction on your bank account between the meal box and the extra products, so that you can clearly see how much you have spent.
The products are indicated on the invoice with the total amount. You can always easily see the total amount per week at the top of your weekly overview when ordering.

Can I give a used HelloFresh Box to the delivery person?
Yes, when a new box is delivered, you can give the other box clean and folded to the driver. We then ensure that the material is used again as a raw material for paper and cardboard. You can also place the box with the waste paper yourself.
The Food Bank
In the Netherlands and Belgium, our packing locations and distribution centers have been working together for years with initiatives such as the Food Bank (Netherlands) or the Belgian Federation of Food Banks, so that boxes that are not delivered - for example because someone is not at home - are still given a good destination.
